What You Will Study
The degree programme teaches methods from computer science, mathematics, statistics and machine learning for gaining knowledge from data. A particular focus lies on working with large, heterogeneous and unstructured datasets.
The application subject is especially formative, because it is where data science methods are applied in practice and embedded in a disciplinary context.
Structure
- Subject studies with foundations in computer science, mathematics and data science.
- A professionalisation area with advanced topics, an application subject, internships and key competences.
- A bachelor's thesis in an application subject or in data science methods.
Application Subject and Perspectives
Students can currently choose from eight application subjects, including bioinformatics, digital humanities, medical informatics and computational sustainability.
Today, data scientists work in research, healthcare, business, IT, consulting, finance and public institutions.
