Doctoral studies at the Faculty of Theology

The Faculty of Theology offers two doctoral programmes:

1) The Promotionsstudiengang “Theologie” (Dr. theol.) requires a degree in Theology or a closely related subject, as well as sufficient knowledge of German, Latin, Greek and Hebrew, and membership of a Protestant church or a church affiliated to the World Council of Churches (WCC).

2) The Doctoral Programme for Obtaining the Grade of “PhD” requires a degree in Theology, Religious Education, a theological sub-discipline or a subject that is compatible with a subject taught at the Faculty of Theology, as well as sufficient knowledge of English or German.
