Establishing a network of expertise and to make it available to our postdoctoral community is one of our key goals. To achieve this, we are regularly hosting Career Impulse Sessions, which aim to bring you together to receive career-relevant input, exchange experiences, and network with each other. Featuring various themes including funding opportunities and non-academic job insights, our guest speakers share their knowledge and experience with you.
We usually invite alumni to share their individual story about their career path and describe tasks and challenges of their current job. Take this opportunity to network and receive first-hand information from people with a very similar background who understand your concerns and have faced similar challenges.
If you would like to suggest a speaker or a topic we could discuss at one of these events, please contact the GAUSS Career Service. The Career Impulse Sessions are free of charge, but please let us know if you intend to participate for organizational reasons.
Upcoming Career Impulse Sessions (information will be updated regulary)
On the speaker: Marcel completed his PhD in biophysical chemistry at MPI-NAT on the topic of solid-state NMR spectroscopy of membrane proteins in 2021. After joining a contract research organization (clinical research) for a while, he now works for Syserso Networks GmbH as a project lead where he is responsible for the implementation of telecommunications projects. In his talk, Marcel will give insights on his transition from academia to industry, talk about his daily tasks and share his view on the role of a project manager and personal career choices.
On the speaker: What does a patent attorney do, and what makes this career path so unique? Saskia did her PhD in the lab of Patrick Cramer at the MPI-nat before she moved to Munich to pursue a career in IP and patent law. In this talk, she will share insights into the daily life of a patent attorney in private practice, particularly in the field of biotechnology.
